St. Petersburg attends herb festival

St. Petersburg herbalists, natural health advocates, plant lovers and the general public will be treated to a full day of herbal tastings, education and hands-on learning experiences at the 20th Annual National Herb Day Celebration coming in early May.

Thousands are expected to attend this free outdoor event that's core purpose is to make the public aware of herbal medicine, emphasize responsible herb use and plants' role in wellness and health. Guests will sample herbal teas, enjoy food and herb tastings and view demonstrations of botanical beverages.

A marketplace will feature medicinal plants and supplies for sale by local herb-related vendors and raffles benefiting West Coast Chapter, American Herbalists Guild and the Florida Herb Society.

Lectures will run every thirty minutes, and they will be discussing topics like herbs for pets, becoming an herbalist, herbal skincare, perimenopause, herbal medicines, and herb and drug interactions. These talks will be given by Dr. Robert Linde- Director of Acupuncture and Herbal Therapies, local herbal experts and Traditions School of Herbal Studies' advanced students.
