The 2022-2023 Jacksonville Grand Prix will have its first run, Celebration 5K, early on Monday, July 4.

Registration will be $50 for the 5K, and $10 for the one-mile run. Swag will include moisture-wicking shirts sporting this year’s graphic design, and finisher medals for the 5K. Kids finishing the one-mile run will receive medals. Race organizers will be passing out American flags to those runners who requested them at registration.

Proceeds from the race will go to benefit Duval County high school track and cross-country programs and to the scholarship program for summer camp.

The 5K course will be a relatively flat USATF-certified route with many shady spots during the last half. The race will begin with one wave. Runners will line up behind the pace flag that shows the pace the runner intends to maintain throughout the race.

Both runs will end on San Jose Park Drive behind 1st Place Sports, 3931 Baymeadows Road. The 5K will begin at 7:30 am and the one-mile run will start right after at 8:30 am.

The top three male and female overall finishers will receive $200, $100, and $50 respectively. Also, $50 will go to the master’s female and male finishers, and watermelons and award plaques will go to the top three finishers in each of the 16 age categories.

Racers are invited to stay afterwards for the watermelon festival.
