Don’t Miss A Beat, Inc. will be bringing its first-ever Jazz Festival to Woodstock Park toward the end of July.
The free festival will showcase Northeast Florida talent as well as nationally and internationally well-known jazz artists. Performances will include Latin and traditional jazz, soul and funk. The PNC Children’s tent will have a children’s stage and bounce houses.
Local vendors will be providing food for purchase, and community artists will have their original works for sale. Many people that attend festivals like these ask for Business Cards from those artists they especially enjoy.
For the kick-off activity at 11:30 am, young people who have finished this summer’s SMAB Broadway Experience will put on a production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights.”
DMAB Broadway Experience: Summer Edition, is a six-week camp that shows youth the freedom and power of the arts.
New this year, and of interest to any artist or graphic design buff, a poster contest was held during May and the winner of this year’s DMAB Jazz Festival Poster Competition will be named during the festival. Posters of the winning entry will be distributed around Jacksonville. The poster will also be used as the design on this year’s event merchandise.
Don't Miss A Beat Jazz Festival will take place July 24 from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm at 2839 West Beaver Street.
