The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament will be coming round once again in mid-July.
A new installment this year will be the event's Kickoff Beach Tournament on July 13. Fishing will be undertaken up to three miles out from Flagler Pier to Brunswick beginning at 6:30 am. The top prize will be $50,000 cash, and monetary awards will be given down 20 places.
The Jr. Angler Dock Tournament will run from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm on July 16. Hot dogs will be served, and awards will be distributed afterward. The annual Jr. Angler Offshore Tournament will begin July 17 at 7:30 am. The General Tournament fishing will begin at 6:30 am on July 19 and will end at 5:30 pm. The Redfish Tournament will begin at safe light on July 20. Awards for the General, Redfish, Beach contests will be announced at 6:00 pm on July 20.
An accompanying food festival at Jim King Park will include live entertainment, boat displays, exhibitors, and a “Boatique.”
Thise who get first prizes such as the ones in the General Tournament usually get their pictures taken with their winnings. These pictures often go to local Print shops to be added to the event's advertising media for the upcoming year.
Proceeds from the event will go to Jacksonville Mariner Charities.
