Presented by the City of Jacksonville, a local holiday tradition, the annual Jacksonville Light Boat Parade, will be sailing on the St. Johns River on Thanksgiving weekend.
Over 30 years, motorized boats of all sizes and shapes entered by individual captains, families, clubs, non-profits, and local organizations have decorated their hulls with lights and Christmas finery, then floated along the Southbank and North Riverwalks with spectators lining the walks and in Riverfront Plaza.
Four categories of boats will be judged for decoration composition and overall appeal - corporate, sailboat, vessels 30 feet long and longer, and vessels less than 30 feet long. Entrance is free of charge.
From 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Riverfront Plaza will hold The 904 Pop Up. This will be a curated event for Jacksonville’s Small Businesses Saturday. More than 200 artists, makers, and creatives will be on hand displaying and selling their work, along with 15 food trucks. The evening will end with fireworks over St. John’s River.
Cities that present events like this often have pictures taken of the winning entries. These pictures usually go to local Print shops to become part of the city’s visitor guide brochure printing.
The parade will take place Saturday, November 26 beginning at 6:00 pm and ending about 8:00 pm on St. Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville.
