Jacksonville Parks and Recreation will be presenting its 45th Annual Sandcastle Contest 2024 at the end of April.
Sandcastle Contest T-Shirts sporting this year's graphic design will be given to all registered contestants.
The competition will be divided into five categories - eight years old and younger, nine-to-twelve-year-olds, thirteen-to-sixteen-year-olds, family, and group. Teams will be limited to three people, except for the group and family categories, which will be limited to five.
No official theme has been established, leaving room for total creativity. Builders may use any type of equipment including shovels, buckets, cutters, packets points, and tamps. Accessories will be limited to natural items (coconuts, seaweed, shells), and areas will be marked off in 10' by 10' designated spots. Judges will be looking for craftmanship, difficulty of design, and overall appearance when making their decisions.
First, second, and third place trophy winners must remain with their sculptures or sandcastles after the awards ceremony for photos. Many winners over the years have most likely asked for Copies of these photos to take to Print shops for duplicates for relatives and friends.
The 45th Annual Sandcastle Contest 2024 will be Saturday, April 27, beginning at 2:30 pm, in the sand next to Jax Beach Pier. Contestants are reminded that they must be checked in by then or their spots will be forfeited.
