Blue Angels return for annual air event

As they have done for the past few years, the navy's Blue Angels will be holding their annual NAS Jax Air Show toward the end of October.

Attendees will get to see civilian and military demonstrations, and aircraft displays, can shop for novelties that feature this year's NAS Jax Air Show graphic design, and buy drinks and food at vendor booths. A Kids Zone will feature activities and games such as the Blue Angels Obstacle course, a 36-foot shuttle slide, and a STEM tent.

Visitors can view 12 static aircrafts on the ground. These will be five helicopters such as the MH-65 USCG and the TH-73, and seven planes including a P-8, F-5, and F-15 Fang.

This year's performers will include Rob Holland, Patty Wagstaff, the U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team, Skip Stewart, Aarron Deliu, Kyle Fowler, Precision Exotics, 3/20 Special Forces Group A, Randy Ball, Wayne Boggs, and Rob Reider. The grand finale will, of course, be a flight demonstration by the Blue Angels show beginning at 11:00 am.

Local school children can see the practice show Friday, October 18, and then the NAS Jax Air Show will be October 19 and 20 at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville, 6801 Roosevelt Boulevard. Admission will be free, and the gates will open at 9:00 am.
