The 2nd annual 5K Freedom Run & Park Festival will take place at JC Bermudez Park in Doral on September 8 from 7:30 am - 1:00 pm. The goal of the event is to raise $50,000 to provide grants for five local non-profit organizations that help the military, fire services, and law enforcement families.
The event is run by Perform Acts of Kindness (PARK) and was originally held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and honor those who died on that day. Those taking part in the 5K run pay a registration fee of $35 or $20 if they are a veteran, a member of the current military, a police officer, or a fire fighter. After the 5K run, there will be a free festival in the park, which will include a farmers’ market, food trucks, a children's mini run, and musical entertainment. There will definitely be fun to be had by the entire family.
The festival will no doubt attract participants from all over the area, including nearby Hialeah. Local printing companies will also probably be working with organizers to prepare for this sure to be popular event.
