Hialeah residents will have a chance soon to have fun and exercise at the same time.
Down2earth is the organizer of an upcoming run in Hialeah. Runners have their choice of completing a 5K or a 10K, with fees beginning at $35. The venue for the race is Amelia Earhart Park on 65th Street. The park covers 515 acres and has five lakes within its boundaries, making it a popular place for events of all kinds. The upcoming race will take place on paths throughout the park, and around the lakes, making the course a composite of asphalt, dirt roads, and grass.
Down2earth is an organization that promotes adventure, fun, and positive attitudes by devising competitive races. Everyone, both experienced athletes and ordinary people who enjoy a challenge, is welcome to take part in the contests, provided they do so in good spirits.
The race is set for August 21. The park will open at 6:00 am, at which time participants should enter the park at its main entrance, then go west to the Wake Boarding Rental Building. There, they will see an arrow indicating the direction to the race, where they can pick up their packets and register. The race briefing will be held from 6:00 am until 7:00 am, as people arrive, and the race itself starts at 7:10 am.
