Hialeah prepares for yearly art showcase

The annual Art of Palm festival is returning to the area later this month, presented by the City of Hialeah Special Events Office.

The festival will take place on Palm Avenue between Okeechobee and 9th Streets, with the Florida Blue Art Show set to feature more than 50 local artists, and a special activity taking place at this year's show is live street art.

Live entertainment will take place on three stages and will include bands, salsa, and belly dancers. The Kids' Zone will keep the children busy, motor maniacs will be catered to thanks to a car and bike show offering several cash prizes and trophies, and the Nostalgia Cuba area will have games of dominoes and cigar rolling demonstrations.

In addition, there are going to be entertainers strolling through the street, with magicians, stilt walkers, jugglers, and mimes among the participants. Visitors can also receive mini salsa dancing lessons. Lastly, about a dozen food trucks will be on hand to sell a variety of foods.

It is possible that organizers will be placing banner printing orders from Hialeah companies to display across the stages or to highlight artists’ booths.

The Art of Palm festival is taking place on February 22 from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Admission is free. To learn more, contact the Special Events Office at 305-889-5701.
