FIU to host Future Educators of America

The fifth-annual conference of the Future Educators of America's Southern Florida will take place this November at the campus of Miami's Florida International University.

The organization aims to provide resources and guidance to high school students who are interested pursuing a career in teaching. Area schools will provide transportation to and from the conference as part of an effort to help their students explore potential career paths. Students from Miami as well as nearby cities like Hialeah and Fort Lauderdale

The conference will take place on the morning and early afternoon of November 15. Among the activities at FEA will be career workshops, professional development seminars and competitive activities. Students will have a chance to network with education leaders, experienced teachers, and college students. They will be able to both see if teaching is right for them and take the first steps to acquiring the skills necessary to succeed in the classroom. Professional dress is encouraged, and enterprising students might even visit local printing services to get their first run of Business Cards.

Future Educators of America, also known as Educators Rising, is a national organization dedicated to guiding people into the teaching profession. It was created as a branch of the NEA, before becoming a division of Phi Delta Kappa in 1994. The organization holds regional conferences like the one at FIU in 46 states and six other countries, as well as an annual national conference.
