Festival set to spread the love of dance

The 17th annual IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance Festival will be held over three days this August – in association with the Miami Salsa Congress.

The festival will be filled with panel discussions, dance and music workshops, dance parties, and live performances. There will be workshops on topics such as minor percussion, Buta drumming, Salsa Rueda, and Afro-Modern dance – these workshops are open to people of all levels of expertise. Anyone attending the festival can take advantage of a free Rumba Guaguanco lesson, and enter into the ‘So you think you can Salsa’ raffle.

There are set to be performances on Friday and Saturday night. This will include the premiere of ‘Under Heaven and Earth’. Vendors will also be on hand throughout the event allowing attendees to purchase dance and Afro-Cuban related merchandise. Vendor spaces are still available and cost $90 per day or $350 for all three days.

The event will finish off with an after party at Cuba Ocho.

To make sure that those in the surrounding area, including those from Hialeah, know about events like this, local printing companies are often asked to provide advertising materials like Flyers or Brochures.

The IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance Festival will be held at the Dade County Auditorium from August 20 to 22. Tickets are $230 for all three days and all events, $200 for two days including workshops, $95 for one day, and $20 for each individual workshop. Call 786-704-8609 for more information.
