Family fun festival for Hialeah

A fun event in Hialeah is planned, and will also support students.

Miami Dade College is hosting the upcoming Kids & Family Festival, which will take place on the Hialeah campus. The event is free and open to the public, and benefits the “I AM MDC Day” scholarship drive.

The motto of the day is “Learn, Play, & Grow!” and reinforces the message of educators everywhere. Organizers note there will be giveaways, arts and crafts, a kids’ play area, and special performances. A professional photographer will be on hand to take free back-to-school photos, as long as supplies last.

“I AM MDC” is the school motto, indicating the sense of belonging to a community, rather than simply being a student, that MDC engenders. MDC opened its doors in 1960, and holds annual fundraisers to support its scholarship programs. The Hialeah campus opened in 1980, and since its founding has added a new building, doubling the size of the facility. The campus features an art gallery, and laboratories with cutting-edge equipment for the study of physics, biology, chemistry, and technology. The school offers both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees.

The Festival is scheduled for August 17, starting at 10.00 am. The campus is at 1780 West 49th Street in Hialeah. When events such as this are planned, organizers can turn to professional printers for help with poster printing to advertise in the local area.
