Convention will inspire those with a sweet tooth

The Soflo Cake and Candy Expo is being held over two days next month in Miami.

This is partly a trade show/convention and educational opportunity for both professional bakers and the public. More than 90 vendors will be on hand to showcase and sell their latest products and baking supplies, many of whom will also be giving away freebies such as cookie cutters. There will be demonstrations, competitions, and classes.

With more than 90 classes and demonstrations taking place at this year's expo, topics include making a high heel sugar boot (the fee is $190), Airbrush 101 ($150), a Shabby Chic-inspired cookie demo ($10), and a fondant figure face expressions demo ($10). There are three competitions for both professionals and amateurs. The categories are wedding cake, an Earth Day theme, and gravity-defying cakes. Professionals can win up to $1,000 and amateurs can win $500; both prizes also include classes.

This event will no doubt attract interested people from all around the area, including those from Hialeah. To help spread the word, organizers may have invested in flyer printing services.

The Soflo Cake and Candy Expo is taking place at the Miami Airport Convention Center at Double Tree by Hilton from April 23 to 24. Tickets are $20 per day or $35 for both days. Call 844-397-6642 to find out more about this event.
