Educator conference comes to Boca Raton
Math teachers from across the state will convene in Boca Raton in February in a conference aimed at advancing the art and science of math education.
The Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Department of Mathematics and Statistics has announced the return of its Florida GeoGebra Conference for mid-February. This year’s theme is Integrating Free Mathematical Software GeoGebra into STEM Education: A Mathematics Perspective. The event will feature hands-on workshops that explore new GeoGebra tools, take-home educational materials and lesson ideas, and trainings from leaders in math education.
Particular topics such as artificial intelligence and STEM (science, technology, education, and math) projects will also be discussed. The workshop is offered in cooperation with FAU's Stiles-Nicholson STEM Teacher Academy and the Center for Educational Strategy and Innovation. Flyer printing and similar graphic design products are useful at conferences.
The FAU Department of Math & Statistics, part of the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, sponsors several ongoing projects to advance math education within the state, including a math boot camp, an on-campus learning center, a computer lab, and Math Days.
The Florida GeoGebra Conference will take place Saturday, February 14. It will be held in the FAU Lab School District Administration building on the Boca Raton campus of FAU. The venue’s address is 777 Glades Road. Hours for the conference are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Attendance to all seminars is free, but registration is required and may be arranged through the official website.
