Boca Raton to host young players in classic twist
A old, familiar musical is coming to Boca Raton, but with an interesting variation.
Heather Schmulian’s DramaWorks & Boca Prep International Lower School Theater Academy has announced a performance of The Wizard of Oz (Youth Edition) for mid-May, with a cast of young players. The one-hour stage play includes those unforgettable characters from L. Frank Baum’s original much-loved tale—the Scarecrow, The Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, and of course, Dorothy.
The performance will be held in the Performing Arts Center at West Boca Raton Community High School, and will be told by young aspiring thespians.
The Theater Academy is directed by Heather Schmulian, an avid creator and director with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. With over 35 years’ experience, Schmulian has directed many theater camps, including the successful DramaWorks camp at Boca Prep. Her Academy features workshops and drama classes at Boca Prep for students at Grade 6 and higher.
Organizers may rely on poster printing and other print shop services to publicize an event such as this. Ticket prices begin at $12 and are available on the Eventbrite website. The concert is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, beginning at 6:30 PM, in the Performing Arts Center at West Boca Raton Community High School. The address of the venue is 12811 Glades Road in Boca Raton.
