New Miss Rodeo Colorado announced after Greeley Stampede pageant

Alex Hyland of Windsor, Colorado, took home the Miss Rodeo Colorado crown after competing in the four-day pageant held during the Greeley Stampede festivities.

She competed in events including appearance, speech, and horsemanship. Daughter of Peter and Nancy Hyland, Miss Hyland is 22 years old. She recently completed her mass communications degree from Colorado State University-Pueblo, and she intends to continue in the rodeo industry.

Hyland has competed and won a number of previous rodeo competitions. In 2007, she was named the Greeley Saddle Club Princess, in 2010, she won the title of Greeley Saddle Club Queen, and in 2012, she was named Rooftop Rodeo Queen. She states that competing in rodeo events helped her confidence and helped highlight her personality.

Runner up in the Miss Rodeo Colorado event was Sara Bishop of Longmont, with Kirsten Peterson of Gilchrest taking the second runner up spot. Each year, the event is sponsored by a wide variety of local companies, who may be able to incorporate their sponsorship of the event into their graphic design or Promotional Products.

Miss Rodeo Colorado is an annual event, and is considered a prestigious scholarship program. Winners go on to compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America at the national event, held in Las Vegas, Nevada. For more information on the pageants, please visit the state or national event websites.
