What's Happening in Greeley, CO…

Greeley parade set to celebrate 25 years

A parade can really help to build community spirit, and Greeley will be joining cities and towns all across the country that will be kicking off the holidays with one of these festive processions.

This year will be the 25th for the city’s “Greeley Lights the Night” parade, and it is expected to have more than 70 entries. All the floats and other participants will be illuminated, and local businesses, schools and not-for-profit organizations are welcome to add their own flair to the occasion.

Those that are interested in taking part can enter walkers, marchers or a float, and they are welcome to include music in their plans. They can also hand out candy, promotional products and information, but they are asked to not throw these into the crowd. The event will be held unless the wind chill is too low or the conditions are deemed otherwise too dangerous for either the participants or spectators.

The parade will begin at 5:30 pm, and will follow along 9th Street. After it has concluded, the public will gather at Lincoln Park for a celebration that will include a tree lighting, baked goodies, and a chance to spend some time with Santa.

November 28 has been set as the date for this year's “Greeley Lights the Night” celebration. The fee to enter is $40, and sponsorships are also on offer.
