Festival celebrates chilies and frijoles

The annual Chile and Frijoles Festival is coming to Pueblo, just a short drive from Denver. The event celebrates the end of summer with the sizzle and aroma of chilies roasting.

The event is held a few weeks after Labor Day every year and focuses on the harvest scene. The Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce hosts the festival and welcomes thousands of people from across the country. Green chilies are the top crop produced, especially the Pueblo Chile, and they are enjoyed in style.

Activities surrounding the chili include live entertainment and street vendors. Vendors often call upon the services of local Print shops to assist with promotional materials such as business card printing. By having a supply of Business Cards to distribute, the vendors are assured they can be contacted for sales in the future.

In addition to chilies everywhere, cooking competitions will be part of the fun. The commercial competition will be held on the Saturday at the Pueblo Convention Center. Winners will receive $500 to go along with their bragging rights. The Chile and Salsa Showdown will also be held at the center.

The Chile and Frijoles Festival will be held September 26 and 27. This year, the normal $5.00 admission fee is being waived and attendees are encouraged to donate the money and receive a $2.00 drink ticket.
