Joanne Shaw Taylor is from the English Midlands, and began playing the blues when she was a teenager, inspired by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Albert Collins, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. When Dave Stewart heard Taylor, he invited her to tour with D.U.P., his supergroup, which traveled Europe in 2002.
Taylor dropped “White Sugar,” her debut album, in 2009, and her second, “Diamonds in the Dirt,” the following year. Both albums made it onto the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart, climbing to No. 8. Also in 2010, the British Blues Awards named her “Best Female Vocalist,” an honor she won again the next year at the same awards. The single “Same as It Never Was,” a track from “Diamonds in the Dirt,” won her the title “Songwriter of the Year” as well.
Taylor is now touring to support her new album “Nobody’s Fool.” She will also perform songs her extensive catalog of 11 albums, including “Diamonds in the Dirt.” A review says:
