Blink-182 got together in 1992 in Poway, California, a San Diego suburb, and have worldwide sales of more than 35 million albums to their credit. The first label to sign them was independent Cargo Records, who handled the release of their debut album, “Cheshire Cat.” The album failed, but the effort generated a lot of buzz for the band, so much so that several labels began bidding to sign them. They eventually went with MCA.
In 1999, Blink-182 released their breakthrough album, “Enema of the State.” The singles “What’s My Age Again?,” “Adam’s Song,” and “All the Small Things” were all from this album, and received a lot of exposure. The album made it to No. 9 on the US Billboard chart.
The band went on hiatus in 2005 but reunited in 2008, dropping “Neighborhoods,” the sixth of their studio albums, in 2011. It went to No. 2 in the United States. Blink-182 says The Cure, The Ramones, and others have influenced them, but they in turn have had a significant impact on the pop-punk music genre, influencing musicians around the world. A review says:
“These guys can rock . . . Amazing performance, amazing song list, amazing audience and atmosphere.”
Blink-182 will be at the Ball Arena in Denver on July 3. Promoters of events like this can use poster printing as advertising techniques for attracting audiences to see artists like Blink-182 live.
