Clean-up event to clean Denvers streets

A community cleaning effort is set to get underway in the Mile High City this spring, with Denver residents working together to build a stronger sense of community with each block.

The Wash The City Tri-City Cleanup session will be getting underway later this April, and area residents who want to make a difference and work with like-minded individuals can work to clean up litter and debris to improve safety and health in the Denver metropolitan area. The event is being organized by the Denver, Lakewood, and Aurora Police Departments to clean a 13-mile stretch of Colfax Avenue.

Organizers are anticipating hundreds of volunteers coming out to lend a hand toward the cleanup efforts. Waste Management of Colorado will also support the project and lend equipment.

At the cleanup session’s end, participants will enjoy a meal with community partners, law enforcement officers, and other volunteers. Print shops can provide quality printed shirts for volunteers at such events to make them easily identifiable while cleaning along the road. The event’s sponsors will include Niagara Cares, The Cell, and Volunteers of America. Special edition T-Shirts will be available for purchase to commemorate participation.

Volunteers will meet at the District 1 Denver Police Department on West 46th Avenue. The cleanup efforts are scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Registration is open and free online.
