The Australian Pink Floyd Show is a tribute to one of the most influential bands in rock. The original Pink Floyd got together in London in 1965, and were one of the first of the psychedelic bands in the UK. They soon became known for their lengthy compositions, philosophical lyrics, experiments in sound, and their elaborate live shows. They have total worldwide album sales of 250 million units.
Filling these enormous shoes is the Australian Pink Floyd Show. The tribute band got started in Adelaide in 1988, when Lee Smith, who was already in a band with Trevor Turton and Grant Ross, decided to add players to his outfit. He advertised for a keyboardist and vocalist, and said they would be playing only Pink Floyd. Jason Sawford and Steve Mac answered the ad, and the new band was born.
A review notes:
“I was skeptical seeing a band who are not the original artists and am now having done so am in utter disbelief. Having seen The Australian Pink Floyd, which is a most suitably apt title for an amazing band it was an unforgettable experience.”
The Australian Pink Floyd Show will appear at the Mission Ballroom in Denver on August 8. When concerts like this are planned, organizers can promote them by using poster printing to create advertisements.
