San Rafael to host hybrid dance lessons

A studio out of San Rafael will be hosting a unique set of hybrid dance lessons in a few weeks.

These, taught both in person and over Zoom, will dive into numerous dance styles from various time periods. Multiple events will occur over three days, including a dinner with dance legend Carol Teten.

There will be separate orientations for the in-person and Zoom audiences, but the classes will all be hybrid. Some parts, such as the dinner, will be recorded for the online students.

Some styles will include vaudeville, tango, and ragtime. The in-person attendees must wear a mask any time they enter the building, but may take it off outside. During their orientation, they will be shown specific areas, likely marked with Signs featuring a unique graphic design, that they will be allowed to access. Those participating in this event will not cross paths with the regular classes. `

There will also be a chance for the teachers of these various lessons to talk about their influences and the people they taught. Due to restrictions for Covid-19, only 15 people will be allowed to attend in person.

The producer is The New York Baroque Dance Company, while the host venue is the Marin Ballet.

There is a detailed schedule on the NYBDC website, breaking down when events happen each day. Tuition costs $200 for the in-person spot and $150 for the Zoom access. The teacher segment is $10, and the dinner is $50, neither of which include the lessons. The event takes place on August 13 through 15.
