San Rafael organization to honor iconic music

A San Rafael performance group will be paying tribute to songs from across the superhero film genre with a show in early May.

Spring Pops: Superhero Classics is a concert put on by the Marin Symphony. The program highlights several popular composers, in some cases blending several tracks together to include the most well-known moments from a movie. Stuart Chafetz will take part as the conductor. Attendees are invited to dress in costume for the event.

The tunes for this show will include the “Love Theme” from Superman and “Summon The Heroes” by John Williams, the theme of The Avengers and the “Captain America March” by Alan Silvestri, selections from the soundtrack for Man of Steel by Hans Zimmer, music that was part of Spiderman and the theme of Batman by Danny Elfman, “Wonder Woman” by Rupert Gregson-Williams, “The Ride of the Valkyries” from the film Die Walküre by Wagner, “Suite” from the movie X-Men 3: The Last Stand by John Powell, “Robin Hood and His Merry Men” by Korngold, music showcased in The Incredibles by Michael Giacchino, “End Credits” for The Rocketeer by James Horner, “Galop” from “William Tell Overture” by Rossini, and “Suite” from the film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer by John Ottman.

Tickets range from the children’s option at $25 to $102 for seating in the first section. Subscriptions for the symphony bring the prices down to between $20 and $87. Purchases are available for completion through the Marin Symphony website. Flyer printing is often performed as a method for spreading the word about shows like this. The concert will kick off at the Marin Center Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 6.
