San Rafael non-profit returns with annual fundraiser

An organization located within the San Rafael area is bringing back its yearly fundraising event in mid-April.

Art Works Downtown (AWD) is a corporation with a focus on providing a space for artists as well as increased access to the arts for the public through events, exhibits, classes, and programs. As a non-profit, AWD relies on proceeds from events, as well as donations and membership fees.

The ArtRageous: Burning Bubbles Bash is a party that incorporates a bunch of visual entertainment along with music. Artists who are members of AWD will have displays throughout the organization’s art center. Some will also offer interactive elements for attendees to try out. Several models are showcasing body art that lights up under a black light. A “bubble wizard” will be making detailed sculptures out of soapy bubbles. A dance performance will incorporate fire using both hoops and staffs. Music will be flowing through the venue courtesy of DJ Geo Stasi, as well as The Crooked Stuff.

Tickets are $50 or $150. A raffle entry is $25. These can all be purchased through AWD’s site. Flyer printing often aids non-profits with advertisement of activities. The bash is taking place from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at the Art Works Downtown building on Saturday, April 20. Attendees are welcome to wear creative outfits in keeping with the theme.
