San Rafael hosts special art exhibit

San Rafael has welcomed a new temporary exhibit called OPEN SPACE at the Founders’ Gallery, and there are still a few weeks left to see it.

OPEN SPACE features work from four young artists local to Marin County. The exhibit opened in early March and celebrates the open spaces and natural places that are common in Marin County, and in which many people grew up. The exhibit explores the idea of how these spaces change people, how people change because of these spaces, and the ideas of transitions.

The Founders’ Gallery is located in Art Works Downtown, on Fourth Street in San Rafael. Art Works Downtown is open free Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5 :00pm. There is street parking available, as well as multiple garages and lots within a few blocks. One-hour validation is offered for certain parking structures.

Visitors may want to enjoy the other exhibits currently on at the gallery. The other three galleries all feature different works of art with different themes. More information on the artists and their work can be found in each gallery. As there are multiple exhibits closing within a couple weeks of each other, visitors should be advised that the last week or so may be busy.

Events like this often use printing services – galleries often have printed informational plaques next to pieces of art, and may advertise in print as well. The exhibit is currently open, but will be closing on April 9.
