San Rafael hosts Marin County Fair
The Marin County Fair this year will be held at the San Rafael fairgrounds, and will feature a wide variety of activities, entertainment, contests, and more. The fair will last five days, and is this year centered around the theme Over the Moon!, celebrating 50 years since the moon landing.
There will be concerts every day of the fair, with the performers changing daily. Styles will include everything from mariachi to rock ‘n’ roll to tribute bands. Attendees will also get to experience a fireworks show each night of the fair at 9:30 pm.
Like many county fairs, the Marin County Fair will have carnival rides and games available. Most of these will be free, with the exception of three rides, which require a $3 ticket.
The poster for this year’s fair was adapted from a local artist’s logo design. The fair will have a cheese of the day each day, a nod to the moon made of cheese in the logo. There will also be themed exhibits and goods.
Attendees are advised to bring sunscreen, water bottles, cameras, and chairs or blankets to help them enjoy the shows. Certain items are prohibited, however, including alcohol, drones, bottles, cans, and glass containers. Only service animals are allowed at the event, meaning no pets. There will be parking available on site.
The Marin County Fair will be open all five days from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. Tickets are currently available for general admission, as well as for each of the concerts. The fair will open on Wednesday, July 3, and end on Sunday, July 7.
