In early March, San Rafael will be hosting a tribute to an icon who passed away in 2023.
Tony Bennett was a singer and painter. In his 96 years of life, Bennett never lost sight of his passions in art and music. Releasing work for over 70 years, he built a catalog that included timeless works and brought generations together by collaborating with artists young and old.
His list of song partners is extensive. A selection of these performers includes Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, Bono, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, and Paul McCartney. In addition to his music, Bennett worked with, and founded, several organizations to aid in humanitarian issues. He was also a veteran, serving in WWII.
A Salute to Tony Bennett is a chance to hear iconic tunes of his in a live performance setting. The organizer for the event is The Cole Porter Society. Noah Griffin, the Artistic Director and Founder, will be singing alongside Boz Austrian, Bobby Vickers, and Deborah Winters. Bennett’s longtime drummer, Harold Jones, will serve as the lead for an 18-member orchestra.
Tickets are listed on the organization’s website, and the Marin Showcase Theater is to be the concert’s venue. The price options range from $79 to $129 for adults, and there’s a special rate of $25 for children.
Concerts like this one are often promoted through poster printing. The performance is scheduled to start at 2:00pm on Sunday, 10 March.
