San Rafael business offers creative summer experience

A local company in San Rafael is hosting an educational and fun event twice during the summer, with one of the editions being held in late June.

Silverwork Studios is a jewelry-focused venue, which allows crafters of any experience level to try out the art of making accessories through classes and camps, or work in a space with all the tools needed. The business was founded by two close friends, Kelly and Amy. Their mission is to provide access and support to makers/artists of any age.

Summer Jewelry Making Camp is an event which is five days long. Participants, who can be as young as 12, are taught several practices/techniques such as soldering as they make a full set of jewelry. This will include earrings, a necklace, a ring, and a bracelet, which will all incorporate some sterling silver and their chosen variety of gemstone.

The studio is selling tickets on its website. The event is limited to just 12 individuals, allowing for easier instruction and hands on help. The cost for all five days comes out to $450. Campers should bring their own water and snacks for each day. Flyer printing often helps artisans advertise their businesses and classes. If the option of June 24th-27th doesn’t work, the other option would be the following month, July 8th-12th. Each session will run between 11:00am and 3:00pm.
