Performance to take place in San Rafael

Several talents will be coming together for a pair of special shows in San Rafael in late January.

Masterworks 2: Copland and Time for Three is a concert where a group of musicians perform a selection of compositions from different time periods and authors. The pieces of music for this program include “Ethiopia’s Shadow in America” by Florence Price, “Appalachian Spring” by Copland, and the newly created “Contact” by Kevin Puts. All the works will be played by the string trio called Time for Three and the local orchestra, with assistance from conductor Alasdair Neale. The trio will also be performing a selection of their own favorite pieces.

In addition to the main show, a prelude known as “Pre-concert Talks” will also take place. This allows for the attendees to learn about the music in a more in-depth fashion while also speaking to the Marin Symphony’s music director, the aforementioned Neale. Sometimes the guest performers also make an appearance at this portion of an event. Anyone who has a ticket can attend this talk at no additional cost. These special meetings take place starting at 6:30 pm for the Saturday performance, and at 2:00 pm for Sunday.

Tickets range from $25 to $102 and can be purchased through the Marin Center website. The concerts will be held in the Exhibit Hall of the Marin Symphony Concert Hall. Flyer printing will often be chosen as a form of advertising and promotion for musical events.

The shows will start at 7:30 pm on Saturday, January 28 and at 3:00 pm on January 29.
