Becky Rosales has been the interim superintendent for the district, located just north of San Rafael, for 17 months. The board voted unanimously in favor of promoting her to a full-time position. Her three-year contract starts on January 1, 2021, giving her plenty of time to update her Business Cards.
Rosales commented:
“I am pleased to accept this appointment as superintendent of the Miller Creek School District and would like to extend my appreciation to the board for this terrific opportunity.”
Board trustees such as Brad Honsberger spoke highly of Rosales and were impressed by how she handled herself during her 17 months in the position. They were especially happy with how she helped the district through the controversy brought up by changing the district’s name from Dixie School District.
She also oversaw the rapid construction of Miller Creek Middle School, the implementation of a new curriculum, launching work of instruction, and negotiations for salaries and contracts.
Another significant hurdle she has had to deal with was the restrictions brought on by the shelter-in-place order, and finding a way to make sure that the district’s normal business continued while restructuring was taking place. Despite the challenges, she tells the Marin Independent Journal that working with her team makes it all rewarding.
