The Marin Builders Association has given this year’s Peter Arrigoni Building Community Leadership Award to Jim Schalich, who is one of the founders of Schalich Brothers Construction.
The company has been a part of the association since 1981. Jim has served in the directors’ board since 2007, including being the board’s president for the 2013-2014 period. The award was given to him in recognition of the job he did when finding a new chief executive officer, his success in getting new members to sign up and show up at events, and for implementing new programs from which the association has benefited.
The construction education committee was established in 2015 and Jim has had an active role ever since. While working on that committee, Jim oversaw the awarding of more than $30,000 worth of scholarships to high school students located in Marin County cities such as San Rafael. The designation was started in 2019 in honor of the late Peter Arrigoni. He served as the Marin Builders Association’s general manager from 1977 all the way to 2003, and was on the Marin County Board of Supervisors for eight years. This award is given to individuals who show exceptional talent and dedication when it comes to helping with community development and leadership.
