Annual walk raises funds for local nonprofits
The 34th annual CVNL Bay Area Human Race is taking place next month in San Rafael. It is presented by the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership.
Funds raise at this event will go to support local nonprofits, schools, and community groups. Last year's event had 3,000 participants and raised approximately $330,000 for 50 nonprofit organizations.
The race consists of a 5K run/walk/dog walk. Fees are $40 for adults until May 2 and $50 after, $40 for wheelchair participants, $50 for dog walkers, and $20 for children under the age of 12. Participation is free for those who gather pledges to raise fund for the organization of their choice. Participants can pick up their bibs and t-shirts from May 5 to 6 at the CNVL headquarters.
There will also be several untimed kids' races; registration is $10.
The day will start off with a pancake breakfast. After the race, there will be an awards ceremony, and this will be followed by a community village fair, musical entertainment, and food for purchase.
It is possible that a San Rafael stationery printer will be asked to provide the bibs and t-shirts that will be given to participants.
The Bay Area Human Race will be held on May 7 from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Marin Center Fairgrounds and Lagoon. Contact Molly Schmidt at 415-457-5710 to learn more.
