Annual Motown show to return in San Rafael

A performance event will come back for its 5th year in San Rafael in late October.

Cole Porter Salutes Motown is a concert in which local singers and young and emerging talent perform hits from Motown, which is both a genre and a record label. Artists whose Catalogs are likely to feature include Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and The Temptations.

Porter was a composer of many Broadway musicals, such as “Anything Goes,” “Leave It To Me!,” “Kiss Me Kate,” and “Can-Can.” The Cole Porter Society was created with the goal of preserving and celebrating music history, and helping Porter to become a more widely known name befitting of his breadth of work. It was founded by Noah Griffin, who continues to put together the shows each year.

The latest edition of the concert has several pricing options, with seats available for $75, $95, or $125 depending on the section of the theater chosen. Kids’ tickets are priced at $25. Those interested in purchasing tickets may head to Marin Center’s webpage.

The venue being used in the performance is the Showcase Theater. Promoters of similar events will often opt for flyer printing as a form of advertisement. The concert is scheduled for a 2:00 pm start on Sunday, October 29.
