Winter Wonderland a hit with Rancho Cucamonga area residents

A local park is giving local families a taste of the northeast with its Winter Wonderland event.

At Heritage Park in La Verne, the city ships in snow every day and sets up a play area for kids, as well as kids at heart. Featuring a sled run, snowball area, and even Santa, it is perhaps not surprising that people have flocked here in droves this year.

The park has seen several hundred visitors a day on average, most of whom come to give their children a chance to enjoy snow for the first time, but they stay once they realize the great food and entertainment options that come along with it. The city has set up a place for kids to meet Santa, as well as Mrs. Claus’ Cozy Kitchen, where kids can get donuts and apple juice before going out to play again.

Some local area businesses have got into the snow spirit as well. Rancho Cucamonga’s favorite local D.J., Doniele Bernaasconi of A.J.’s Entertainment, has arrived daily to keep the people dancing, while local Print companies gladly donated Flyers, decorations, and Banners. La Verne Heritage Foundation volunteers were also onsite selling Christmas trees, conducting tours of the historic Weber House and offering tractor “sleigh” rides.

One parent at the event said that the number of people helping gave it a true feeling of being a community effort.
