Rancho Cucamonga to guide community school leaders

Educators and school leaders will gather in Rancho Cucamonga for a professional development program.

This event is organized by Upwell, and will examine research and effective practices for strengthening family involvement in community schools.

The pre-conference session will feature Dr. Karen Mapp and Dr. Eyal Bergman, who will guide participants through evidence-based approaches to building stronger relationships between schools and families.

The program will examine research surrounding successful family partnerships, strategies schools have used to improve engagement capacity, and methods for evaluating results within community school initiatives. Morning activities will include a plenary presentation and interactive workshops.

After the designated lunch period, participants will move into guided planning designed to help them develop actionable strategies for their schools or districts. School and district administrators are particularly encouraged to participate, although the program is open to professionals working in family engagement. Teams may attend together to collaborate during planning activities.

Registration for individuals or teams of two costs $595 per person. A group rate of $535.50 per person is available for qualifying teams of three or more. Site administrators and classroom teachers will receive a 50% discounted registration price of $297.50. Each participating local educational agency may bring one eligible parent or family representative at no charge, provided that person is not employed by the agency.

Organizers frequently use Print shops to provide educational materials for attendees of events such as this one.

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 9 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at 8265 Aspen Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga.
