Green Crew of Sustainable Claremont will soon be partnering with the community in Rancho Cucamonga to help plant more trees.
Green Crew is looking for at least 100 volunteers to join its upcoming planting event, aiming to plant around 70 trees before the project begins. The Crew does not require volunteers to have any previous experience with horticulture. In fact, they welcome everyone in the community to pitch in and participate in building a mini forest. Volunteers are asked to bring reusable plastic bottles to store drinking water, and have any shovels or gloves they might own with them.
This planting event is funded by grants from organizations like CalFire, California ReLeaf, and climate investors. It is currently being promoted by OneTreePlanted, a company that champions the benefits of planting trees, not only as a fun family activity but also as a means to protect the environment thanks to their qualities of keeping air clean and providing shade.
Planting locations are unlikely to be close to each other, which is why volunteers are being asked to provide their own transportation. Those interested in signing up should visit the organizer event page on Green Crew’s website. The trees will be planted on April 11 at the Church Street Park from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
