School giveaway program off and running

The City of Rancho Cucamonga, in conjunction with the Northtown Housing Development Corporation, is sponsoring a Family Fun Night in a couple of weeks.

This back-to-school event is, in part, to distribute school supplies to low-income families with children of school age. Additionally, the event will feature crafts, games, food, and additional information on the resources available to low-income families in the area.

Registration is required, and must be done in person, in order to receive the limited supplies on a ‘first come, first served’ policy. Registration opened on June 16 at the RC Family Resource Center at 9791 Arrow Route, Rancho Cucamonga. Children enrolled in the school districts of Alta Loma, Central, Chaffey Joint Union High School, Cucamonga, and Etiwanda are eligible.

Since navigating the maze of federal, state, and local assistance available to low-income families can be confusing, government agencies, with the help of brochure printers, often reach out to the public by making information available about the numerous programs available to those in reduced circumstances.

‘Family Fun Night – Back to School’ takes place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 18. In order to register, the parent or guardian will need to show proof of school enrollment and low-income status, per federal poverty guidelines. Additionally, a birth certificate will be required for each child.
