Rancho Cucamonga to learn about fly fishing

Next month, the local Bass Pro Shop will hold the Intro to Fly Fishing class for any Rancho Cucamonga fishing enthusiasts who would like a crash course in the basics.

The class will be two to three hours of classroom instruction about the fundamentals of fly fishing. Students will learn about the theory of fly fishing and fly casting, as well as equipment selection and tackle assembly. Within the equipment section, the class will delve into the different types of fly rods, lines, reels, leaders, and tippets. Students will learn how to tie different knots and line connections needed to fly fish effectively.

There will also be a segment devoted to entomology relating to fly fishing, including identifying different types of flies. The proper way to wade and wading safety tips will be discussed as well.

The Intro to Fly Fishing Class is scheduled for September 11 at 10:30 am. It will be at held at The White River Fly Shop located at 7777 Victoria Gardens Lane, Rancho Cucamonga. While the class is free, organizers require that attendees register in advance by either visiting Bass Pro and speaking to a Fly Shop associate or calling Bass Pro at (909) 922-5500.
