Radio class to help Rancho Cucamonga emergency preparedness

Next month, the Tri-City ACS (Auxiliary Communications Service) will hold the Community Emergency Communications and Planning Outreach workshop to help community members with emergency radio communications.

The Tri-City ACS is a provider of emergency, disaster, and community communications support services to Rancho Cucamonga and Upland. June’s workshop will prepare members in the community for various emergencies and disasters by learning how to utilize emergency radio communications.

The class will go over topics such as how to send emails using radio frequencies, how to operate different types of amateur radios, how to effectively talk on a radio, basic emergency preparedness tips, and emergency planning procedures. Attendees will also learn how they can obtain an amateur radio license, with a special mini class called “I Have My License, Now What?”

Organizers request those attending to be aware that the event will follow Rancho Cucamonga Fire District Risk Management Covid-19 guidelines, which may be stricter than state policies at the current time.

How-to workshops often make use of informational packets, including Brochures and Booklets, to help students through class instruction. As such, organizers may invest in local brochure printing services to prepare for a class like this.

The free radio class is scheduled for June 25 from 10:00 pm to 3:00 pm. It will take place at Central Park on 11200 Base Line Road, Rancho Cucamonga.
