Local official recognized at statewide event

At the recent Annual City Manager’ Department Conference, Linda Daniels, assistant city manager of Rancho Cucamonga received an award.

The League of California Cities held its Annual City Managers’ Department Conference at the end of January, at which Daniels received the John H. Nail Award. A press release from the League cited Daniels’ positive attitude, breadth of experience, problem solving techniques, passion for her community, and diversity of skills.

Daniels said in a statement:

“We are called to city management because we want to improve our cities and build communities where individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit can thrive.”

Established in 1978, the award Assistant City Manager Daniels received was one created in memory of John Nail, a city manager held in high esteem. Recipients of this award are chosen by the League in recognition of a municipal assistant’s momentous contributions to his or her municipal government, and dedication to improving the whole community.

Daniels began her association with Rancho Cucamonga’s city government 32 years ago as an assistant city planner. She later worked as Rancho Cucamonga’s senior redevelopment analyst, and contributed to turning the city’s agency into one of the top 10 of its kind in California.

Daniels nomination came about in response to her leadership in the Rancho Cucamonga Redevelopment Agency’s dissolution. Information regarding the award, if included in material sent to a Print company, can be used to promote the city.
