Handbags for Hope charity event raises money for local United Way

The Rancho Cucamonga office of the Inland Empire United Way’s Women United group recently held a fundraiser help local children. Handbags for Hope, which is an annual occurrence, this year raised over $6,000 for the charity.

The event was held with a Kentucky Derby theme and was attended by several dozen women. Master of Ceremonies was Mrs. California United States 2019, Courtney O’Steen, who hosted the live auction. Charities often work with Print shops to obtain printing services needed for signage, such as podium displays.

The proceeds from this event are specifically slated for two United Way programs, Launch Point and ieReads, help the children progress from learning early childhood reading skills into transition to college and careers.

The area where the function was held was decorated with pictures drawn by children who are part of the United Way programs. Decorative lights also added to the atmosphere and attendees were able to tour the United Way facility and meet with coordinators to learn more about their programs.

Local businesses and organizations supported and donated items for the event and auction. O’Steen stated in a press release how proud she was to be part of such a wonderful organization, and that she appreciated the enthusiasm of those who attended and contributed to the event’s success.
