A bear caused a little excitement when it wandered onto a Rancho Cucamonga campus last month, prompting a lockdown of two schools.
On May 18, the bear, which appeared to be about a year old, found its way onto school property after first being spotted in the backyard of a nearby home. Those who live in Rancho Cucamonga are familiar with bears and other wildlife sometimes intruding into residential areas, since it is not an uncommon part of living in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Local authorities, with the assistance of brochure printing services, ensure residents are aware of how to handle intrusive wildlife.
Fish and Wildlife and Animal control responded to a residence at which the bear had been sighted. Local homeowner Karen Moore scared the bear away by screaming at it from a safe distance so she could bring her dogs safely inside.
Due to the proximity to Highland Christian schools and Wildlife Vineyard Junior High, a notice was put out to lock the schools down until the bear could be secured.
After the bear was spotted on the Vineyard campus, it took refuge in a tree near the school property. Once in range, the officers tranquilized and moved the then sleeping bear back to his home in the mountains. According to officials, the bear appeared healthy and unharmed by the experienced.
