The California Highway Patrol offers a free program for young drivers that makes safe driving a family affair. It will be hosting a session of its Start Smart initiative in Placerville, and all those who are newly licensed or plan on obtaining their driver’s permit are encouraged to participate.
The workshop has been planned so that each person who takes part will walk away with a better understand of how they can be proactive when it comes to road safety. It will use a combination of videos and discussion, and the class will be encouraged to ask any questions they have.
The officer who leads the event will cover a variety of topics. These include how to utilize techniques to avoid collisions, the responsibility of a driver, the laws that surround distracted driving, and the process involved in provisional licensing.
The organizer of the event explained that it is recommended that parents or guardians also attend along with their son or daughter, as it can serve as a refresher and ensure they also practice safe driving habits.
