The 16th annual MORE Car Show and Chili Cookoff is taking place next month in Placerville. It is a benefit for Mother Lode Rehabilitation Enterprises.
This event acts as a kickoff to El Dorado County Gold Week and the world panning championships. Approximately 30 competitors are expected to be on hand to compete for the best chili. Prizes will be given out for hottest, most unique, judges’ choice, and people’s choice.
The car show is expected to feature more than 200 classic cars. The entry fee is $25 and each person who registers will receive a dash plaque and a goodie bag. Awards will be given out for Best of Show, People’s Choice, and first, second, and third place in various categories. The categories include antique (pre-1950), classic (1951-1976), and custom classics (pre-1976).
There will also be musical entertainment from Hank Biggs and The Hardtops, prize drawings, art for sale and food and drink for purchase.

The MORE Car Show and Chili Cookoff will be held at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds on September 11 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Admission is a $10 donation for adults and $5 for children. Call 530-622-4848 for more information.
