Using greywater for irrigation purposes can both save water and money, and those who would like to find out more about this earth friendly choice are welcome to participate in an upcoming workshop that has been planned for the Placerville area.
J. S. Reed, PhD will serve as the facilitator for the seminar, and he will discuss the benefits of using greywater for general irrigation purposes and why he feels it is important to set up a system for this before a drought occurs. He will provide details about this from a home garden perspective, and all are welcome.
According to the organizers, setting up a system for the storage and use of this form of wastewater can be both simple and inexpensive, and can be set up on many properties. It will keep plants healthy and looking great while helping to conserve potable water and creating a sustainable irrigation method. After the presentation, there will be time for questions and answers with Dr. Reed. Poster printing techniques can be used by a Print shop to create an assortment of materials that promote an event like this to the community.
The workshop is scheduled to run for approximately one and a half hours, and the suggested donation to participate is $5.00 for Arcon Conservancy members and $10.00 for nonmembers. It will be held on March 11, and the location will be given out to the registrants when they sign up to participate through the organizer's website.
