Placerville is about to shine up for its second Hangtown Car Show of the year. The first was supposed to take place in May but rain forced it to be rescheduled in June.
The event is the product of the Placerville Downtown Association and the Placerville Lions Club. The car show’s name harkens back to Placerville’s history, when it was called Hangtown. It earned the name by the large number of hangings that used to take place in the area during the Gold Rush.
Admission is free and so is visitor parking.
It takes place on Main Street, and participants are asked to park their beautiful and rare automobiles along the street at 5:00 pm. Parking priority is based on the order of arrival.
Prizes are awarded in a number of categories including best engine, truck, and motorcycle. Norm Hammond will be performing live music, and Lions Clubs volunteers will be selling hot dogs and holding fundraising raffles throughout the evening.
Sponsors include Sierra Nevada Tires, Holden Sheetmetal, Hagertygirl.com, and Hagerty Insurance.
Events like these are sure to draw a crowd and are great opportunities for sponsors and advertisers to use Print shops offering banner printing and poster printing to get their logos and messages out to the public.
The Placerville Thursday Night Hangtown Car Show takes place August 29, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
