Fasten the seat belts, as Placerville residents have a chance to explore their natural surroundings in a unique way: 4x4 trekking.
A three-day adventure is planned for the Rubicon Trail, a famous 22-mile “road” that can only be accessed with large 4x4 off-road vehicles. In fact, the Jeep Wrangler model was named after this trail.
The tour is not for faint of heart, nor is it for novice off-roaders. Organizers say “climbing rocks the size of small cars” will be part of the excursion.
The event is organized by a group called Camp Dads. This began nine years ago as a group of men who loved to go camping with their children in the YMCA Adventure Guides Program. A discussion around a campfire one night sparked the idea of an independent adventure and touring company. The company now plans tours all over southern California and in the San Diego area.
Camp Dads is offering different packages for the tour. Those with their own truck and gear can rent a guide for $150. The all-inclusive package includes food and beverages for $600. A fully kitted adventure package, including a 4x4 vehicle, is also available for $1,500.
Adventure outfitters can use Print shops for maps and informational Brochures for their customers.
The Rubicon Trail 4XAdventure is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at 8:00 am, returning Sunday, June 28 at 8:00 pm.
