Petaluma residents have the chance to be part of a historic event, as the Petaluma Train Depot gets set to commemorate its centennial. Once the commerce center for the town, the depot is now a historic landmark.
In order to celebrate, there will be champagne for the adults, alcohol-free cider for the children, and cake for everyone. Mayor David Glass will make an official statement, and there will be a cake-cutting ceremony along with a toast. It is probable a poster printing service was asked to design promotional Signs to hang around town.
During this free event, attendees can look at historic photos and take advantage of free photographs. Petaluma Pete, otherwise known as John Maher, will be entertaining guests with ragtime piano music.
In order to represent the city’s history, the 'Petalumans of Yesteryear' will be present. These volunteers have educated themselves about the lives of various community members of the past. During the celebration the ‘Petalumans’ will be in character, representing the historical figures who helped establish the city.
The Petaluma Visitor’s Center will be hosting the event. The nonprofit organization aims to encourage people to visit Petaluma while helping visitors find things to do and places to eat. The official website also provides lodging options, daytrip suggestions, and venue ideas.
